Top 10 Nostalgic Things From The 2000s

We all become nostalgic once in a while. It reminds us of simpler and of more civilized times. Maybe it was the food, or maybe it was the fashion back then. We may not want to dress like we did before, but we all remember our pants were baggy and your hair was terrible too. We loved it though, yes we did. Here are the Top 10 things that make up the 2000s for me.

#10 MP3 Players 🎧

Hey! Stop judging. Not everyone had rich parents that could afford ipods! The MP3 was a go-to for many. It was more affordable and easy to carry. Listening to the same 20 songs couldn’t have been any more fun. Late night listening sessions in the dark, & walking to school with Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, & Kanye West on rotation. Yes sir...

#9 McDonald’s Legendary Dollar Menu 🍔🥤🍟

The food just tasted better back then. It was cheaper too. My personal go to was 2 double cheese burgers, a McChicken, and a large orange soda, all from McDonald’s of course. We didn’t care about the frozen meats, that’s something adults care about. We cared about a good time & that was all.

#8 The Moment Everyone Remembers, 9/11

Most people born after 9/11 remember where they were when they heard the news. I was in Mexico at the time, and I remember it was also a big deal over there. “The most powerful country” in the world had just been attacked. We all talked and watched as the towers crumbled.

#7 Big Baseball Caps

Around this time hats became more high profile for guys. Baseball caps began to rise in popularity, and if you didn’t have one, you were wack. Owning one meant for some that you had to tuck your ears in like a goblin. They were prohibited at school, yet people took them just to get them confiscated. They had to show 3 people that they owed one 🤷🏻‍♂️

#6 Reese’s Chocolate

Reese’s is still the best chocolate. Best of both worlds, peanut butter and chocolate. This candy just tastes like the 2000s.

#5 Funnel Cake For Breakfast

This was before the healthy days. Before the government and your mom worried about what you ate. It was breakfast time at school, & the most delicious, not nutritious, breakfast that you could eat was a full blown funnel cake. Thats right. No one asked why, kids just ate. It was alright. 👍🏻

#4 Resident Evil 4

Video games were the most influential part of teenage for many boys during the 2000s. RE4 is a classic game to this day. This is the game that made boys turn into men, made them find love for guns, and we saved the world, all at the same time.

#3 Malcom In The Middle

This show right here is a classic. No other show can compete with it. It is one of a kind. For once, working class families could relate to a realistic American family. We laughed, saw them struggle, and realized how the other shows were really scripted. This one was too relatable. I know the intro word for word, bar for bar. Legendary.

#2 Thank Me Later Album by Drake

I don’t think there is a better soundtrack for the 2000s than Drake’s TML. It was all over the radio, Drake’s image was everywhere, girls were signing it, guys were rapping it, it was crazy. If you didn’t own the album, you didn’t have at least 2 songs from it on your music player, you were lame. Find your love, Fancy, Miss Me, Over, Thank me know, wow. Those songs become a time machine.

#1 The Dark Knight Movie

For a batman loving teen, this movie was everything they could ask for and more. Probably the most hyped movie of the 2000s. Christian Bale as batman and Heath Ledger as Joker. The movie is a certified classic to this day. Watching it in the big screen with popcorn, nachos, and a coke was simply out of this world.
